Chamonix
A real mountain town beneath Mont Blanc. Serious terrain, independent spirit and a valley that rewards curiosity.

For the scale of the mountains and the character of the town. Chamonix is a collection of ski areas, not a seamless resort: choose your base and your guide with care.
January to March is the core winter season. Higher terrain can hold snow later, but access depends on weather and conditions.
Stay centrally for restaurants and valley transport, or choose Argentière for easier access to the Grands Montets sector. A chalet works well when the group values evenings together.
A guided day on suitable off-piste terrain offers a different perspective on the valley. The Vallée Blanche is a glacial itinerary, not a piste: a qualified guide, equipment and appropriate conditions are essential.
Balance mountain lunches with time in town. Book smaller dining rooms early during busy weeks and leave room for a simple Savoyard supper.
Geneva is the usual airport gateway. Allow time for the road transfer and check winter travel conditions.
Mixed-ability parties need a considered plan. Choose teaching areas, transport and meeting points before committing to accommodation.
